Pinging radiators

I am a homeowner where some of the radiators ping a little bit when going from a cold start on a one pipe steam system. Is this considered normal? The pipes are not banging.

Expansion

Probably expansion of the cast iron, My sister has an old coal converted to oil coverted to gas that takes almost a 1/2 hour to make steam, makes noise when the radiators finally strat to get hot, could be the same scenario.
