just incase you can't tell I am the kind of guy that likes to make sure everything is correct when I do something I do it right, that is not always the case with the people you hire, but any way I am just checking over my system and was wondering if you guys could tell me how to check to see if my aqua stat is set right. And what is the purpose of them, I have 2 that I can see but I think only the honeywell is hooked up and it is set at 140 right now. Thanks a lot

A Place to start
You might like to try http://hbctechlit.honeywell.com/ as a start point, try entering the start of the part number you have like l4006?

It sounds as though
you have a hot water boiler; two aquastats. The first one is called an operating limit and the other one is a high limit. The high limit is set to a higher temperature than your operating limit and is there to turn off your boiler in case your operating limit fails.
The wiring is fairly straightforward; the thermostat, safety string and aquastats are all wired in series and end up at the gas valve.
Take a look at the boiler's internal wiring diagram and you should be able to pick out all the devices between the transformer and the gas valve.

Caution here...
Aquastats are used as operating and SAFETY limit controls. If you are a homeowner, I strongly recommend that you DO NOT adjust these controls, or a you could cause damage to your heating equipment and home or serious personal injury. Use the Find A Contractor feature above, or contact a local reputable hydronic contractor. These controls are not intended for inexperienced or untrained people to adjust.0 -
There is only one setting on the stat that I can tell when I have the cover off.0
