Steam heat

We removed the radiators when we refinished the hardwood floors in our house. Now with the radiators reinstalled they all leak, even some of the ones that were not removed and did not leak before.
I now hear that there is a specific process to reinstall and purge the air out of the system. Is this something I can do and if so how is it done?

What leaks
Or to be more clear, what specifically is leaking? If what's leaking is the thread connections then some teflon tape and pipe dope should be all that's needed. What will be needed is to pitch the rad correctly or back to the inlet if it's a one pipe rad. If the steam system was quiet and seemed to work fine before the floor refinish task the rads were probably working just fine and you shouldn't need to do much.0
