As some of you may recall from previous posts I am in the insurance business. We work with a lot of contractors and are in a small town. We just had our 4th contractor pass away in 5 years. They have all been different types of contractors. But there are a few common traits that these men shared. 1. They all owned there own companies. 2. They were successfull. 3. They all worked a lot of hours 4. All had families. 5. All were "fit" 6. All under 55 years old. 7. All had massive heart attacks. Are there other similarities? I am sure there are.
Answer these questions for yourself, When was the last time I was to the doctor for a complete physical? When was the last time I left work early or took a day off that was not planned to be with my family? Life is short remember whats important.

Something to think about
I recently read that noone on their death bed was ever heard to say, "I just wish that I had spent more time at work."
I know some guys are super busy and feel needed to the point that the world would shut down without them, and they are honestly just trying to help those who depend on their services. But I read a poem one time about thinking we are irreplacable. It involved putting your hand in a bucket of water, making a fist, pulling it out and the remaining "hole" is the measure of how we'll be missed. (in terms of things not getting done without us.)
Many of the "best" in every field have already died, and the world goes on without them. Does anyone think that Einstein, Edison, Lincoln, Pasteur, etc...were needed any less by the world they lived in than you are? Someone may not be able to fill your shoes. But someone will walk in your shoes one day and "replace" you, and do the job you're doing. Maybe they won't do it as well, or maybe they'll do it better, but the world won't grind to a halt at the passing of any of us. Today would be a good day to tell someone you love them, tell someone you're sorry, make things right with God, take your family somewhere, or a lot of things... if you're not too busy...Kevin

Work to Live
Don't live to work.
Those of you who have lost family members know this very well. Life is to short, kids grow soon, friends are here today and one tommorow.

working too much
I have a lovely pen drawing with a poem beneath it and it says.
A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank acount was.The sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove... but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.
The author is unknown: I only wish I was the author and perhaps I have a slightly different slant on working --- in September 20 , 1999 I was standing on the sidewalk waiting for the CAA tow truck to take my truck to the shop I was on my way to work and the lousy thing quit. I was standing on the sidewalk when { cell phones should be banned in cars} this nurse just coming home from the evening shift -- very tired I am sure and talking on a cell phone lost control of her car jumped the curb and hit me -- my right knee has been operated on four times and my back is broken yet to be fixed so I can return to work. Do you know the thought that went through my head as she was heading towards me and I had no where to jump to -- I was thinking I am never going to see my wife and kids again! Thats when you realize the important things in life and it is not money or a bigger car its hugs and I love you dad -- think about it your kids only have one dad and you are it!!0
