What does DBC mean?

I have a Trianco boiler. The boiler plate which is found on the top of the machine, under the jacket, has no writing on it. However, DBC 115 is stamped into the metal of the plate. What does this mean?

DBC115 is the model number of the boiler. DBC stood for "dry base chamber". That boiler evolved into the Trianco (now Laars) Newport boiler.

Yes, in this case, the DBC115 was named for it's D.O.E. rated heating capacity, which is 115,000 BTU/hr. (That's an output.)

Standard warning: If you are sizing a new unit, please make sure someone does a heatloss, so the new unit is sized properly. Don't just use the BTU/hr rating of what is there already.

Avy Miller started the company, and made an acronym out of the names of his family members.

I have seen a couple of lists of the names. The one we think is correct is:

Lewis, Ann, Adel, Roda, Steve

I have also seen:

Lorraine, Avy, Amy, Roda, Sherwood

And Mark gets an A+!!!!
