Was up in Worcester Mass. this weekend, my younger sister just purchased her 1st. home and her steam boiler was leaking. So up to New England with an IN-5 in the truck. Had to listen to the Yanks and Sox on the radio (very nice to find a Yankees broadcast on a Worcester station)Boy did I get looks with my truck with Yankees stickers on the bumper.
Needless to say Yankees win, THEEEEEEE Yankees win! What a game to miss on TV, but I did see the highlights, Boy you Boston Fans must feel good about that Pedro, real class act.

Yanks in 6 :)

Oh No, a Yankees fan (grin)...

still, I'd rather see a yankees bumper sticker (and fan) than one more of the utterly tasteless (and vulgar) tee shirts or bumber sticker that read: "Yankees s***" (ignoring for a momennt that for a team that the shirt proclaims to be of (to paraphrase) less than high quality, they have a pretty good record), let alone insulting claims on the back of said shirts directed at their fine SS. Please don't take that as representative of Sox Nation. Still: Go Sox... (and: Go Cubbies...). Peace!

    Hey Ant

We are about as proud of Pedro as Yankees fans should be of a 73 year old man charging a player on the field. Don has apologised, to bad Pedro has'nt.

I am disgusted by the whole game. Once again Boston has a black eye for the rest of the country to see.

People should have been thrown out. The umpires did a horrible job of handling it and the players acted like little kids. This is NOT proffesional sports. Lets hope for a better performance on Tuesday.

    sox and Yanks

Things are really getting out of hand is right. I got an e-mail this weekend of a three or four year old kid in Sox jacket and hat "flipping the bird" to the Yanks...what a sad commentary on the youth of our land. That kid hasn't had enough hugs lately!!! Maybe he need a little taste of the strap like we got when we were kids....

Mad Dog is no baseball fan...because it is usually noT

violent enough for my tastes, but boy o boy hadda love that game. Gotta hand it to the ol' man Don. A real man will always be a real man no matter what the age. The BOSOX pitcher could have side-stepped ol' Don, or gently, took him to the ground. He did not need to man handle grampa. Like the other lowlifes in sports today, Roberto Alomar, Latrine Sprewell and the like its not a surprise. Was rootin' for The Yanks, but what didn't one of the younger Bucks take care of business for ol' Don Mad Dog

    repeating

the kid is probably repeating what he's seen his parents and/or other relatives do. Either that or his parents put him up to it as a "photo-op".

In either case, it's probably the parents that need the application of "behaviour adjustment"

    I'll go you one better.

My daughter, Colleen, lives in Southie. She's in VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) and spends her days helping the students at Emerson get involved with disadvantaged people in the community. During the past week, she's had a number of members of Red Sox Nation scream at her because her car has NY plates. These folks told her that New York sucks, and that they were going to wreck her car. These were all grown-ups. Colleen doesn't follow baseball, and there are no bumper stickers on her car. Just the license plates.

That make me very sad to here, but unfourtunatly I am not supprised.

    Hey KIDS its a GAME.

That mentality it what gives the fine town of Boston a bad name. After our first win they over turned cars and broke in to Fenway Park ???? Our removal from Monday Night Football back in the 70's comes to mind.

Try to remind your daughter that we're all not that bad.

    She knows that, Scott.

She's one of you now. She lives and works there. Doing the work she does, she sees the best and the worst in people every day.

  • How can the

Umpires be blamed for what happened? A warning, to both benches, was given when Pedro made his finger to the head gesture. That is what got Zimmer's goat. Should Martinez have been tossed then?

This kind of thing will continue to happen until Baseball gives the Umpires Rule Book authority to level a penalty other than ejection. Warnings are worse than nothing. Unsportsmanlike conduct is a bench penalty in Hockey, a Technical Foul in Basketball, 15 Yards in Football, etc. Would you, the $80K per year Umpire eject the $10M per year ball player, the fans came to see, because he has no class? Not if you want to umpire in the Show! And. The players know it!!
