Gas Hot Water Heater Anodes

I don't have enough headroom over my hot water heater to pull the anode. Would it hurt any thing to lop 4-6" off it. I all so can't believe my supply house here in Northern NY, they don't stock them and therefore never sold any. This is typical for them as far as stocking for the Reem hot water heaters. Had to wait 3 days for them to next day air a new power vent motor for one..........

Flexible anode rod
Rheem makes a flexible anode rod, part #SP8371B for this situation. It's connected in sections by a flexible wire.0 -
yes,you can shorten it,
but it will just have a shorter life span..you can also bend it some also...hope this helps..0
