Tekmar 256 combined w/ a Wirsbo 212?

This summer I installed a Tekmar 256 control to do a boiler reset on an old convector system, I had also installed some in floor radiant about two years ago. Which is controlled with a Wirsbo Promix 212?

This morning the home owner called me to let me know that they had no heat on the convector side, but the radiant was heating fine. When I got there this evening I turned up the house loop and everything fired up fine.

But, if I turn on the radiant it raises the boiler to 180 and the house shuts off. I have currently had the 256 & 212 wired in parallel @ the boiler. I am assuming the 256 is not coming on because the main loop is toooooo hot. Has any one run into this? Do I need isolation relays?

Jamie

    Hello Jamie

I am not quite sure if I follow you correctly, but you could be right when you say that the 256 may not fire the boiler when the loop is too hot.

Usually, the 256 would be the only control to fire the boiler, but you would use the Boiler Contact from the Wirsbo to give the 256 a Boiler Demand. You would require an external Relay for the Boiler Pump. This may be your whole problem right now.

I need more information. Why don't you call tekmar Tech Support? Ask for Mike.

Mike you hit it on the head! Just needed a relay and had to run some new wiring.

    Thanks for the input,
    Jamie
