sometimes blue or blue green can be an indication of low ph (below 7) water leaching the copper or brass components.


Cuprosolvency is the ten dollar word for this condition!

Soft, acidic water, low alkilinity, low mineralization water is often presented as those green/ blue stains around a sink or tub drain. Any signs of that? A simple ph test on the water source would clear this question up.

Often the bluish gel turns to white calcium type powder when it dries. Leave a handful out to dry. Sometimes old water heaters spring a leak when the "goop" is flush out :)
