Switching from hot air to hot water!

getting many of these calls?
I sold two this week.
Remove forced air system and replace it with a water system.
We started a Buderus panel radiator job today in a home that is only 5 years old.
Easily the worst ducting system I have ever seen.
System will incorporate a Munchkin 80m boiler with the Vision one control. Constant circulation when the outdoor temp hits 60* and all of the rads have thermostatic valves.
I'd like to think we are beginning to see a new trend with homeowners.
Pics tomorrow.

The Dead Men did this all the time
tear out scorched-air, install hot-water or steam. Can you hear them cheering?

Did one a month or so back,
Funny that "what comes around ALWAYS seems to go around " eh?
I love getting rid of air systems for some water units, whatever the medium. People are starting to realize that those"stupid radiators" they lived with growing up, are the finest way to get the heat they want, and take up the smallest space in "shrinking rooms".
Wall space is becoming a comodity. If you show them that what they need to heat a room will only require 3' of wall space VS. 10 ft. of baseboard, that they will have to keep the furniture away from, yet will hold the heat for a longer period of time, they Will tend to go for the medium that will consume the least amount of space.
The "deadmen" had a method to the madness. We have to make it understandable to the customer. Not only in numbers, but by showing them the options. There are many, and the more you know the more you can offer
Mark, we've done a few in the 2 years that I've been working for Mr. Milne, and everyone that did them knew the reasons and that the outcome would be comfort and cost saving , overall.
It's a hard sell at first.(someone will come in and cut your testicles off for a price, yet not give the customer the comfort they deserve for the largest investment they'll ever make!)This is where the professional /qualified contractor comes in.If they know they can't put a piece of furniture here, it goes a lot further than freezing, or baking a room, or 2 because they "have to put this here".
The options are many, and the folks that can tell them, aren't there to give them the choices.(in the first meetings anyway) Our best bet is to give the contractors WE work for, a line for us. Give us the plans, work with what the customer expects, and a couple or maybe few options to them.
Homeowners are the ones who have the ultimate control. Give them some referals, and previous customers to call. That will give you the best references you will ever get! If you did it right, they'll call you back for service. If you did it wrong, they'll call you back to fix it (for free!).
Keep that in mind. Chris0
