that Steve Gates won the 50/50 raffle and gave back his winnings (nearly $700 in cash) to New York Cares.

You're a class act, Steve. Always a joy to see you. Thanks.

Just got home from Wetstock III. Everyone was migrating to the bar when I left. (I had plenty of beer the night before) I looked across the room and could see all these big names in hydronic heating. It was really hard to tear myself away. It is not often that an assembly of people such as this occurs in my town. Totally enjoyable. A Wetheads dream. Whaaaah! (You had to be there)

There was an error rendering this rich post.

    My first Wetstock

and I got to meet all the people that I've been writing to on The Wall and had never seen; boy, do they look different from the pictures that I had in my mind.

I was surprised to meet Mike Miller from tekmar; imagine the brain of a 40 year old engineer in the body of a 20 year old person. My first night there, a group of us went out to dinner at a very nice fish and steak restaurant near the hotel with a great view of the Denver area. To my chagrin, he paid for everyones dinner...........out of his own pocket. I think the bar tab was more than the food.

And I got to meet Mike Thies; I never realized that hydronic heating was his hobby; that's right, he's not a contractor and he's not a supplier. He just dabbles in this stuff for fun, but to listen to him you would think he's a qualified engineer.

Paul Rohrs gave me and Gerald (my journeyman) a lift from the airport to the hotel along with Mike Miller. He's from Nebraska and gave me an idea how hospitable people are in the mid-West. What a great guy.

Also at dinner that night was Barry Engleman; I'd never met him before. He speaks softly, but carries a voracity for controls that can only come from natural curiosity and intelligence.

I also got a chance to see John Siegenthaler's new software; bought a copy and he autographed the cover.

    It's tough

when the check valve between my brain and my mouth gets stuck.

I'm still laughing about walking down the stairs behind Trapper.

Here you go Dan. One more time, just for you.

Had a great time and met some of the greatest people I met in my life just this one weekend. Thanks to all who attended and shared their knowledge. Hope all got home safe and sound.

    Thanks everyone!

Being an "outsider" I felt a bit out of place at first but all made me feel at home...

GREAT to put faces to names on the computer and experience first-hand perspectives from all natures of the trade.

Some from the East wondering, "Why do you have to promote [hydronics]? Everyone uses it?"

Others with, "...only because my wife works too."

A wild gravity solar system of highly unusual design.

    Interesting products well presented.

Many theories of design--all valid yet wildly different.

Consultants professing simple designs and basic physics who are almost like dentists, "If you just do these simple things you wouldn't need me in the first place."

While there were certainly some heated discussions, NOTHING even resembling personal attacks or animosity--even after a few hours in the lounge!

Extremely diverse group of GREAT people ALL seemingly willing to share, listen, learn and maybe even modify habits. Amazing.

    The best thing

about Wetstock III was a chance to see "The Lovely Marianne" because up until now, I though she was a fictional character; but no, there she was; just like in the frontispiece in The Lost Art of Steam Heating (she hasn't changed much; different dress).

I'd be proud of her too. Thanks for bringing her along, Dan.

I took liberty to snap a few shoots of the festivities. First I must say that the group of people assembled in that room was awsome. There was not a bad bone in the air and the respect was peacefull.

And last Mr. Dan Holohan himself and his wife the beutiful Maryanne. We were fortunate enough to all have the opertunity to enjoy each others company over dinner at the Fort eatery.
