Broomell Re-Pipe - DF

Here are the "before" photos of a Broomell system we re-piped this week in Takoma Park, MD. The complaints were high fuel bills, water hammer, and no heat at the radiators. Can you see why? The steam mains are directly connected to the dry returns. There was not a main vent anywhere on this system.

I went back to clean and skim today. It was humming along at about 8 oz. of pressure and all the radiators were hot. The system was whisper quiet with no banging or hammering. -DF

Hi Frank. Thanks for the compliment on our work. I used four #75 main vents on this one (two per return main). I wanted to use the Gorton's on this job. I attempted to purchase them through my local supplier. He contacted Gorton and was told he needed to buy a minimum order of ten vents. I only needed two so I used the Hoffmans instead. -DF
