eBay

Another famous scam went out to AOL users. It asked them to update their profiles. Names, Address, Passwords and credit card info. It looked VERY REAL!!

The moral of the story...NEVER, NEVER, NEVER respond to any e-mail asking you for personal information. There is no ligit company that will ever ask you to do so!!!

  • maybe I'm paranoid

I received 2 messages from eBay, one on each of my email accounts. The emails were asking for some updated information by clicking on a link.

I did so and started filling out my name and ebay password.
Then it asked for my SSN, a credit card number, and maybe a couple of other things.

As soon as I saw the request for the SSN and CC number, I slowed down FAST. Looking at the link, it was a series of numbers and there was no indication of it being a secure site. I backed out (and never put in the numbers) and closed the window. I went to the eBAy site and found no notice of what they were mentioning.

This is probably a scam. Since I don't pay money to eBay, unless it's the money holding programs, why do they need this stuff?

    Don't do it.

    Jeff,
It is a scam. Somewhere on EBAY's site I remember reading that they will never email you for your password and username. For your own safty dont ever click a link from an email and enter personal info, unless it is an email you requested or are expecting. Instead go to the site and check it out. Any programer can make a clone of a website.

    Speaking of eBay

Check out one of the many items that contractors should be wary of:
