Combustion Testers

I am happy with my Testo 325. A little problem with one of the plugins for the probe, the plastic clip that holds it in broke early on. For the most part it stays plugged in and really causes no problem.

Combustion Testers
Hi,
Been looking at combustion testers. One that caught my eye is the Kane 400 which calculates on CO/CO2 ratio method,
I want to test both Gas fired and oilfired heaters as well as checking for CO. This one has an optional printer too,
Has anyone used one or has any experience with kane may instruments and would like to comment either good or bad.
They seem to be at a reasonable cost.0 -
combustion testers
I have found most of the combustion testers to have one quirk or the other. I have had problems with kane may, universal and bacharac. So far my favorite is testo, it too has had a little service issues but has been the most reliable to date. Also service seems to be the best also.0 -
Was just looking at these.....
Johnstone has The 24-8217 Bachrach FyriteTEch 60 on sale right now. I plan on purchasing some test equipment this fall....both combustion analyzer and digital thermometer for checking water temps (ie. infared). Your input would be appreciated, since the prices on this equipment are pretty steep.

Testo
I purchased a testo 325 last winter, has a small infered printer, I am very happy with it. However I dont use it on a daily basis. Only when I install and set up new equipment.

I bought
The Bacharach Fyrite Pro 125. I am pleased with it. Within two weeks of purchase it died. I sent it to Bacharach and they repaired (new pc board) it and returned it to me within ten days.
This unit has all the features I need for residential light commercial work and is priced right.
It is a very useful tool and I use it daily. It gives you other information that he wet kits can't give. however i keep my wet kit in shape because i can't fix the electronic one in the field.
Maintenance for the most part has to be done at the factory and there is an associated cost. So thats what I would look for- factory support
I spent on average $75 o $100 a year maintaining the wet kit. I have read that I am to expect about $180 with an electronic kit.

I should add
That I bought my Bacharach Fyrite Pro 125 from Alan Mercurio of Oil Tech Talk fame at a good price and got great service.
