I had the pleasure to meet Jason on my trip with him up to the Viessman Factory and can attest he is a great guy, except for his dislike of seafood that is.....:)

But seriously by the looks of this job heatboy definitely made a great move finding an employee almost as attentive to detail as heatboy is himself. Nice job Jason!!!!!!!!

I must confess that my new guy, Jason, piped all of the copper on this project. Pretty nice work! I sent him up to Viessmann a few weeks ago and he came back thoroughly pumped to do his first Viessmann job. I am very happy with the looks of it. We have the electrical and cleaning to do, but I am very pleased with his work ethic. He is watching so let him know what you think of his first big project. Thanks!

  • I love it when you share...

your systems here with us oh Boy of Heat.

Nice clean well thought out mechanical room piping.

    Two Questions.

    (1) Is a planned diagram allways made before the jobsite work begins?

(2)With a basement installation such as this,(lots of room) it appears you could have used a verticell DHW tank. Why did you choose to use the horizontal?

This is undoubtably not Jason's first boiler job. Hard to find talented fitters like that.

Congratulations Jason, on a job we on the Wall can all be proud of.

    Nice work Jason

You could'nt have picked a better contractor to learn from.

Boy of Heat, I like that. Sort of like a title. Arise Sir Boy Of Heat, lord of the BTU, Prince of Hydronics.

ANYWAY, are those Danfoss panels ?

    I always.......

know what the finished product will look like in my mind. The only time I draw it out is when I need to make sure it all fits on the panel.

I like the looks of the boiler on top of the indirect. Makes a cleaner appearing project. That's really the only reason I do it. With all of the great looking projects I have seen here lately, it is really starting to take quite a bit of thought on how to make each panel better than the last.

    The panels.......

are from Wirsbo. The big one is the 311-V and the small one is the 101. Sweet panels. They saved me a BUNCH of time here. Partially because of these panels, Jason and I set the equipment, piped everything you see, set 6 manifold in the walls throughout the home, pulled 700' of 3/4 hePEX and hooked up all of the manifolds, as well as run 400' of low voltage wiring to 9 zones in 46 hours. Whew!

I can see using more of the when I'm not using the Vitodens. Although, the next three projects are all Vitodens equipped so these panels won't be part of them since these panels rely on a primary pump which raises return water temperature and kind of defeating the purpose of condensing technology.

    Welcome Jason

I can assure you that you are working for a real human being. And by the looks of your install you will be a very nice compliment to his ethic!Thats alot of work for 46 hours and when you look back it's a great feeling. You two will shine brighter then the diamond plates..........which I can't freakn' believe you cut a small chunk for the wet manifold:)..............

    question..............

    jeffrey,

I was just looking at the piping. Did you not use the high temp. pump? I noticed only two feed & returns coming out of the bottom. Just curious.

    Two temp radiant, Gregg.

This whole home is radiant (16K feet of tube) so the high temp circuit wasn't needed. We had all of the high temperature equipment (pump, valving and piping) removed and have the primary capped. I am hoping Wirsbo comes out with a two temp radiant panel with no high temp circuit for applications like this one. Panels, i.e. Wirsbo and Danfoss, are huge time savers and will hopefully be on most of my projects. Although adapting them to some of the Viessmann stuff is a challange with the conflicting control theories.
