Invisible electric radiant wall heat

Is there any such product -- or way to fabricate invisible electric radiant wall heat? I know Convectair does radiant electric wall panels, but my wife insists she "does not want to see it." So that would mean something that could go behind the sheetrock. The room in question is small: 6'x9' but sloped ceiling: 8'-15'. One 9' wall is external with one 4'x6' window, no exterior door. The 9' internal wall is brick fireplace that will be framed and sheetrocked. Floor is slab over which we will put bamboo flooring.

  • That reminds me of.....

The infamous Hydronic Wallpaper. The stuff that heats the whole room, is paper thin, and needs only 3/8" Pex to feed it.

Too bad it never made it off the drawing board. It would have been just what you're looking for.

    Try \"Watts Radiant\"

They have an electric floor warming "mat" that doesn't care if it's installed verticle or flat. Maybe you could sandwich it between 1" insulation and a sheet of drywall. Biggest problem with wall installs is our natural urge to drive nails into the wall to hang stuff. You will have to be careful.

That might be a fire hazard. Electric resistance heating cables can get REALLY hot if not embedded in a good conductor like cement or plaster.

Someone recently posted an instance here in an electric wholesaler warehouse where electric resistance cable had been put inside of much larger metal conduit and embedded in the floor slab. When this construction was accidentally discovered, he reported that there was a strong odor of "electrical overheating" inside of the conduit.
