The crawlspace blues

to help me today because we were running duct in a crawlspace, and he's smaller than me. Unfortunately the house was built over an old stream bed and it was quite wet because of all the rain we've had this summer. By the end of the day he was not a happy camper. Now when he doesn't want to do his homework for school I can tell him, "that's OK. You don't have to do well in school. You can work for me and help with the crawlspace work." I bet that will motivate him.

I brought two of my older Sons(Kurt & Chris )with me to work on a crawl a few weeks ago just for the same reason ( they slipped alittle with their school work last school year) We ran a gas main in a old turn of the century home . The new addition was tight and wet but the old crawl between it and the dug out basement was nasty... We slid a full 21' -1 1/4 " across the nasty section. But I had to brake cookies. "OK boys I need a hanger in the middle there !"........Gee.....What !...... how ? ....EEEEEEEeeee......No-way... there alot of spiders in there..You go first.....No you.. LOL

    Yeah Paul

His hair has been bright blue all Summer, but we don't let him go to school that way, so we cut it short and let it fade. It's now light green. If it's not totally gone when school starts next week we give him a buzz cut.

    I know what you mean

Before he went in he asked me if there were any rats. I played the part of the comforting parent and said, "let me know." WW

    for crawl space comfort

I keep some 4 and 6 foot wide rolls of Insultarp on hand. Rugged, soft, comfortable, and waterproof.

Much easier on the old body.

    4 foot traffic tarps

we buy plenty of 4 foot wide traffic tarps (the heavy duty cloth kind the painters use) easy to wash and to roll out in front of you in those nasty spaces...besides we never walk through a house with out throwing tarps down so we keep plenty on hand...and the 4 foot cloth tarps work great. Cheap insurance that you won't be cleaning rugs or replacing kitchen floors :)

    Here is the Insultarp

a roll 4X 50 feet. If you use the white side up it really brightens up the crawl area when you use a work light.

It's plenty durable to be used over an over, just hose it off. It's very similar to those concrete insulation blankets used when pouring concrete in freezing weather.

Try www.insultarp for a dealer near you.

Like Bud, I also keep a small poly tarp behind the seat in my cab for really messy jobs, or covering a boiler, when the painters show up :)
