practice makes perfect
Tonight was the dry run, tomorrow night is the actual ceremony. My ASM was to speak tomorrow night too, but his cancer has returned - with a vengence - and he's not doing very well. They're taking out his tongue in the next few weeks and had already removed a substantial portion of his neck, jaw and lymph glands last year.
He was out in Philmont just a few weeks ago with his youngest son.
You never know, eh? Life sure hands out some tough hands to play. Beginnings & endings was going to be the gist of my personal speech tomorrow night - referencing how attaining Eagle appears to be an ending of a journey, but that in reality it is but the beginning of many journies that - on the surface - appear to have well defined beginnings and endings but that are - in reality - intertwined and woven into the magical fabric we call life and whose beginnings and endings lose their sharp edges as we gain the perspective of this thing called aging. Moving on to talk about grabbing each moment and savoring its sweetness or bitterness and to go for the gusto - always.
But, there were no loosers here tonight - even if you did take advantage of my absense(G) & we're all proud of what Meg is doing. Dan as a captain!?! Mon Kapitan(G). Question is - why is he painting light bulbs and then planting them??? Might as well give him a bag or two of sand to mix up and pour for new sidewalks too(G). Is TLM doing curtains for the classrooms? Who's in charge of coffee???Bob "hot rod" Rohr
