Potassium Permanganate/ Sulfuric Acid

Potassium Permanganate/ Sulfuric Acid are Reagents that I use to determine my nitrite level in my 8.5 Fulton boiler, my question is, what is the concentration level in these two produces? If I were to order them from another vendor, how can I explain to them what I need? , The use for Sulfuric acid is to dilute the boiler water with one drop then with the Potassium Permanganate you count the number of drops till a color (purple) appears, this determine how much nitrite or chemical is in the boiler water. If you can help me out please replay back too .com

    Concentrations...

of these are very important as far as the testing goes. The sulfuric sounds like a relatively high strength if you only use one drop...and it is to get the solution to a certain pH level for the indicator (Potassium Permanganate) to be effective I believe.

The strength "indicator" is normally in the form of molar strength...an "N" with a number is located somewhere on those bottles. These are standard numbers that any chemical/water treatment supplier should be familiar with...I believe it's 0.01 for 1% (of Normal) if my memory serves me right...it's been a while.

Hope this helps. Take care, PJO
