    Roto Rooter

I saw their ad in Newsday help wanted section. I was at a public pool near my house and I was watching a Roto Roter drain cleaner at work. He told me you have to buy your own van and you get commission on every job. He told me some guys stay a long time some leave after only a short time. After he left I asked the manager of the pool how much was it to clean the drains. He told me Roto Rooter charged him 650.00. The drain cleaner guy was there about an hour and a half. I don't know percentage wise how much of that he got.

Thanks for the info. All the ppl that I've talked to seam to have liked the apprentiship program and stuck with them until they had their Master Plumbers license. I'm going for a career change and they seem like a stable company to run with so my family doesn't starve. Anyone with any more info? Thanks!!!

  • i used to work for them years ago

it wasn't bad..i dont have anything bad to say about them...as with anything, you'll get out of plumbing what you put in to it...be forwarned...the learning never ends,,,ive been doing this for 25 years and still study most every night...its by far one of the most rewarding professions there is in my biased opinion...not just financially but in personal satisfaction...when i first got into the trade an oldtimer told me i'd never get rich, but i'd never starve..i'd say he was right...but i also have very few complaints about life...make the change,,you'll find it rewarding i'm sure.
