Zone Valve, OK to use?

I'd liked to change my "diverter-tee" hot water system from one to two zones using zone valves and a single circulator. Is is okay to use standard zone valves (Honeywell V8043E1020) or do I need a "full port" valve. I'm concered that flow rate through a standard valve will be restricted but am unsure if that will affect heating performance; the opening in the valve is so small compare to the inlet pipe! The main loop in the basement is 1" with 1/2" supplying the radiators to the first and second floors; I'm splitting each floor into its own zone. Any advice would be great! Thanks.

Find the
zone valve with the highest Cv rating you can find; I think the Honeywell's we used to use were around 7.0.

Where
were you planning to install zone valves on a monoflo system? Don't see how this can be done. Am I missing something?0 -
trade-off
Their 1in zone valves come in 3.5 and 8Cv variants. However the trade-off is that the 3.5Cv one will shut off against 20psi while the 8Cv one only against 8psi.

Highest CV is probably on White Rodgers
The valve pressure drop is usually equal to about 7 to 10 feet of pipe of the valve size. Basically it is a full port ball valve. I use them whenever I need high flows at low pressure drops.
