Pull pex through existing steel pipe in floor?
Do you think it could work? Heat output? Wouldn't be much contact for conduction heat transfer between pex and pipe?
Existing radiant loop with 1" steel pipe commercial building installed in 1960'. Havent looked at condtion of inside of pipe

Pex in Pex
The heli-pad at Childrens Hospital in Washington, D.C. has 3/8" pex inside of 5/8" pex. The original 5/8" pex froze and split due to glycol dilution. I was called in to "fix" the problem as it did not work. They did not care for my solution which was to abandon the existing snowmelt panel and pour a capping slab over a new panel. I never heard back from them so I'm not sure what was done. -DF
