on Summit Ave in St Paul MN circa 1890
Saw a piece about it on TV this weekend. Hot water heat but rads only in bathrooms and servant's quarters since owner didn't like the look. Indirect (early gravity hydro air) everywhere else.
Separate steam boiler that discharged steam at eaves, overhangs and gutters to stop ice damming.
40 tons of coal stored under driveway with direct access to boiler room.

in NYC, we used steam to keep the copper roof and gutters of SAINT PATRICK'S CATHEDRAL ice and snow free. Cardinal O'Conner was grateful Mad Dog
