Gas meter location

I visited my daughter in Italy last April (she's going to the university in Bologna for the year) and when I walked in to her kitchen, I saw the gas meter on the wall; quite a surprise.
The picture is a little fat because I had to re-size it.

The boiler
is on the other wall and does both heating (cast iron rads) and domestic hot water; their apartment is about 1,200 [] and has 2 bathrooms.

Very Neat
BUT , back to the gas meter.
Is that a flexable line coming in, it looks like lead ?
And the feeds going out to the house look like soldered joints ? Could that be ?
Allways interesting to see how things are done in other parts of the world.

That sure is lead
I've taken out thousands of those. I haven't seen one of those in 15 years.
The Fire Chief ought to see that. They melt if it gets hot there.

Fuel
I believe their fuel is natural gas. One of her roommates smelled gas once and called the fire department; they must have sent the whole brigade (who wants to go check out some coeds), but they couldn't find the leak and the smell went away.
Good eye, Scott. That wiped joint gives the material away. And yes, copper house lines.
