Removing rust from copper lines.

Does anyone know a way of removing rust from copper without replacing the whole system. The lines are not block, but working on them, I am finding rust on the inside. Steps have been taken to stop more rust from the well (high iron) but I would like to get rid of what is in the lines.

    make sure you select on for use with potable water.

    You are right in having to correct the problem at the well. I have a venturi system on my well which has high iron. Every pump cycle it sucks in O2, then a contact tank allows the rust to fall out. It backwashes like a softner. Works well up to a certain level.

    My last home had REAL BAD iron. There we had an Iron Curtain. It used a compressor to inject air (O2) which caused the iron to fall from solution, a large contact tank, ans a multi layer filter with auto back wash.

    Make sure you check ph also. Once you strip the copper clean it becomes very "attackable" It needs to have a patina or layer to protect the tube (and provide a bacteria base :)
