Gentlemen; I am looking for a web site that would allow me to compare electricity versus LP gas. I have to replace my old electric range and also dryer. Where I am located elec. is about .14 cents a kw. A gallon of LP is $2.25-$2.65.

    Here's some numbers to help

If you can find out the BTU input and the KW consumption of each type of burner/element these numbers will help.

    1 gallon of propane = approx. 90,000 BTU's

    1 KW = 3,438 BTU's per hour

Let's say you gas dryer has a 20,000 BTU burner....
If you divide 90,000 by 20,000 you get 4.5. Your dryer will run for 4.5 hours on $2.65 worth of propane. Divide again to get cost per hour. The cost comes out to $.59 per hour to run.

An electric dryer usually comes with around a 5,200 watt element in it. This would be 5.2 KW. Simply multiply the KW used times the cost per KW. ($.14 x 5.2 = $.73)

Get accurate numbers of the Btu of your gas dryer and KW of the electric. Using the numbers above you should be able to determine which is less costly to run.
That being said, it's usually LP that's cheapest.

    1 Kw = 3412 BTUs
And you need to take efficency into acount to work out the nett heat into the house, Electric = 100% , Gas depending on the appliance anything from 78% to 94%, even high efficency furnaces or boilers will have heat loss in piping/ducting before it gets into the house.
