Has anyone had any problems with the Teledyne Laars JVS boiler for radiant heating in a slab? This will be a replacement boiler for our whole house system.

    LAARS

The LAARS boilers are low mass, low content and need to be piped correctly.

Flow through the boiler is VERY important as it is with any low mass, low content boiler.

Primary/Secondary piping is recommended by the manufacturer for just about any application, but it will be essential when attached to a radiant system.

Flue gas condensation is still a concern, as it is with any non-condensing boiler. I have seen T/L boilers that have been destroyed by flue gas condensation.

It really comes down to how knowlegable your contractor is. A professional schmucko can destroy any boiler regardless of it's construction.

Picking a competent contractor is as important if not more so than picking the equipment.

    Hope this helped.

    LAARS

LAARS parts are very expensive when there are breakdowns. I would look for another source.

    expensive ?

most are common and when installed right, VERY little trouble w/ Laars. JVS boilers are about the simplest decent unit going.
