Had to go to the basement and check mine out...

Everything is fine on mine... however the dessign is such that if someone were to crank the gas fitting on the top of the pipe without using a backup wrench... they could loosen the union or break the small screws where the union attaches to the gas valve.... any good tech. should know better but........
I imagine that future designs will incorporate something to support the gas piping that is internal in the unit better.

I will be checking on this further in the morning.....wondering why my supplier hasn't said anything yet.....

Meanwhile....I'll just enjoy the money that I'm saving, and the unlimited supply of hot water that I get from the combo of the Ultra with a plus 40...

Still have to go down ther after taking a shower and watch that puppy ramp down then shut down and post purge, running the water temp down to about 145 or so before shutting off...can't believe it is all caught up in less than 5 min.!!

    Thanks for the heads up!!!

    supplier

I informed mine yesterday. The look on his face told me he didn't know.

    Checked yesterday....

my supplier said that the ones that were affected had a tag attached to the crate and were some of the earliest ones put out....
if you have any questions about a particular boiler you can eml Weil and they will tell you if it was affected....

the problem apparently was a result of shipping....
therefore if the installer checks the gas train for leaks upon startup, (which should be standard practice) there should be nothing to worry about here.

    ICE

is my nickname. Stands for: I Check Everything. Have had guys quit me because they said I was too "anal" about my work. Better off w/o them. I also do ice machines and my bowling team mates say "I Carry Everything"! They think I just hit the headpin at all and it's a strike. How I wish !
