I had a golden opportunity to spend quality time with a bunch of great guys on tues july 8th. For the first half of the day we attended alan's burner workshop which gets better all the time. that afternoon we drove over to bnl where we were welcomed by the staff and Dr. tom Butcher a real standup guy with tremendous perserverance from all the questions we threw at him, this was one fascinating and intriguing facility. The projects there workin on seem endless i would like to share a few pix with you from the lab. sincerely,
Mike Santoro

    Mike,

Thanks for posting the photos. Quite the motley crew eh ?

A great time was had by all . Hey wallies, does that wall hung unit look familiar ? Basically , it's an oil fired Munchkin. The fan placement has been changed to protect the innocent.

The small burner firing into the glass tube is a modulating oil burner from Japan. It was being fired from .25gph-1.25gph. It was quiet! The control that the engineer is using was being adjusted manually, but they said that the control originally sent was voice activated. Apparently, their Japanese isn't all that great so they got a manual control sent in.

Thank you Alan for a great chance to see the future. Chris

    For the record,

Left to right,Jon Cokerill, Noel Murdough(Slant Fin), Richard Schmit (Sid Harvey's) Charlie Masone(R.W.Beckett) Greg,Alan Mercurio,(our host)Ron Jr.(looking rather in awe) Mike Santoro (Mike@boro) Tom Butcher (BNL) Me , (no comments from the peanut gallery) Ken Secor, and Yosef, Brookhaven Lab engineer. (sorry for any misspelling guys)
This was quite a day of education ! We learned amongst ourselves,(Mike, write an article please !) and from our host. This was the best learning experience anyone who truly cares about the industry could have attended this year. Great people, great fun, and most importantly, a chance to see and feel the future.
Thanks again Alan ! P.S. intern Chris taking the photo. Thanks Chris! Chris
