My neighbor has a solar tank similar to what you describe. I think it could work as an indirect.

    IS THERE SUCH A THING OUT THERE AS A INDIRECT FIRED WATER HEATER WITH ELECTRIC BACK-UP, IF SO WHO IS IT?? THANKS.

    makes a stainless indirect and can be custom ordered w/ electric back up... go to htproducts.com.another choice would be vaughn industries, they make the top performer indirect see vaughncorp.com...they also could work out something for you.
