Sorry Iknow Iprobably didn't spell it right.anyhow I'm not familar with them and custmer turned his oil fired unit on today after being off for a few months.after about 5 mins. there was a funny smell, and i could feel some sort of gas pushing out of the small inspection port.I turned it off,as I didn't have my test equipment with me.
I just need to know ,if this is normal with these for some reason. Unit was just serviced prior to shut down.Unit was shut down because house was empty.
I'm thinking chimmneys clogged, I can't imagine any form of gas coming out of a fuel burning unit can be normal.
Hey Heatboy this actually might be your old house its on Linden lane in R-ville.

    Viessmann

vitola boilers are positive pressure boilers, but I've never experienced gasses comming out of the inspection port unless it's loose.I would still throw the gauges on it to make certin you have draft.

    I'd check

For debris/birdnests etc. in the flue. If it's been unoccupied for a length of time the critters may have moved in. I once removed 23 starlings, 2 ducks, a squirrel and 5 pigeons from an 8x10 flue. All quite crispy. The lady said she smelled something funny but her cheapo C/O detector never chirped once.
