2pipe oil.
when you pipe an oil tank for a 2 pipe burner, the supply line drops down to about 6" from the bottom, should the return line drown down nearly the same distance or can it just stay a few inches from the top? Thanks, Don0 -
It should be about.................
3/4" of an inch above the supply line. Even better is not using one. Many reasons but the best one is most oil leaks are on return lines. Hope this helps John@Reliable0 -
Separate the two lines by
3"-4" of height if you use a duplex fitting. The suction line can and will pull any air from the return line back in if it is too close. If the are at opposite ends of teh tank it doesn't matter.0 -
I usually
Just stub the return line in the tank thru the duplex bushing about 12 into the tank.0 -
2-pipe oil lines
if it is a underground tank 4" off the bottom is good and have the return line about 3" above that. The way i like to do it is to use slip couplings in the duplex fitting, useing 1/2" oil line i put the two line thru the fitting and twist them together, on about a 4' lenth there is only one to one and a hlf complete turns(like a cork screw) then i kick the return line out , on the last 2" just so it dose not dump right on the suction line.then install it in the tank. hope this helps ..David0 -
lines
gotta be down close to the same ..mini pump could lose prime if the tank is lower than the burner

Oil lines
The reason I ask is because on a recent install, I did use the duplex bushing, the supply line went about 5" from the bottom but I only piped the return line a few inches INTO the tank. Is this a problem? Should I return and pipe it down further closer to the supply line. If so why does it NEED to be lower. Thanks for the help guys. Oh yeah the tank is inside the basement. DD0 -
