    infloor heating pipe brakes

I have a shop floor with plastic hot water heating pipes. Some of these pipes have cracked as the floor has settled.
Is there some product I can put in the water to seal the leaks, such as Bars Leaks or Allumaseal. These products are used in engine radiators.

  • No easy way that I know of,,,

    Geoff,

However, It may be possable to locate the leak(s) and repair them with a little demolition from above. I use an infared thermometer and have had good luck so far repairing broken embeded tubing.

What type of plastic tube was used?

    Pipedream;-)

Plastic tube cracked because the floor settled?

    Who's tube was it?

    The bigger question

is why the floor is moving? Until you can determine this I wouldn't spend much time trying to fix or locate sheared tubes.

It is not unusual for concrete to crack, and generally this does not damage the tube. If the slab has settled or moved this may be on going based on jobsite conditions or improper backfill and prep work under the slab.

There are sealers for pin holes and such, but ripped tube would be another issue.
