Do I need to control a outdoor reset ?

Say we have a 5 zone baseboard system powerd by a Burderus boiler and using their outdoor reset control .. There is one room sensor , let's say in the living room. Would it be wise or a waste to install a system bypass on the livingroom zone ? Just incase....... say the back den has more heat loss or lack of radiation then the rest of the house and could fall behind , With a tweak on the bypass you can tame the main zone which would adjust the system.and using the thermostats as limits, even in the room sensor zone .

Maybe I'am over thinking , don't fully have faith or just a control freak!!! What do you do ?

Another question while I'am stiring in the pot...... What is the method of finding the correct "Reference Number? How could you find a number..... Say the house is a hodge podge of radiation ??? Seem like it could be hit or miss......

If I was faced with what you have going on there, I'd start with a room by room heat loss calc to see exactly what zones are over and/or under radiated. This will give you a little better idea of where to put the room sensor. Also if you presently have 5 zones, assuming each with its own zone valve/pump and thermostat, maybe you don't even have to have the room sensor. As far as setting your reference temp, that's a by guess or by golly situation unless you have a good heat loss in hand and know what the house needs. Usually I find that houses are over radiated when I do a heat loss and wind up with the reference temp about 155* to 160* at 14* outdoor. Where you set it also depends on whether the house undergoes a deep setback at night. Then you want a little more cushion to bring it up in the morning.

the room sensor must be installed with the zone where the highest water temp is. figure this by doing complete heat loss compared with amount of avaliable radiation. also try contacting buderus rep, mine (mark avron) is very helpful with these type of questions.

room sensor also adjusts ref temp. since it can directly measure indoor temp as well as outdoor temp and match heating curve to actual conditions not worst case senario.
