Reading Wayco Wayne post and I think Davids comment. First really hot week here in Wisc. and the AC calls come in. The compressor pins are the weak link in the can shell, glass arround them to keep from shorting to the case. They can and do blow out. Trainer from Carrier said about 7 guys a year lose an eye by pulling the wires off those pins. Since alot of the weakness arround the pins is from acid from a burnout you get the acid and refrigerant and oil out that little hole. Carrier turns their compressors so you don't get a good look at the connection. Best bet is to check at the wires going to the compressor. Wear the goggles and don't face the pins if you pull the wires off.
