Radiant heat under wood floor

putting the tube in the slab then a floating hardwood? Junkers and others have a thin foam pad placed under the hardwood. Puts a little "spring" to the hardwood floor without hampering the output.

Make sure you start with a heatloss and design. This will assure your floor system will comfortably meet the load for the space. Contact a contractor, rep, or manufacture for design help.

Radiant heat under wood floor on sleepers

I am building a 2 story addition to a rowhouse. The existing house has gas hot water cast iron radiators. I am planning on a DIY staple up in-floor radiant installation for the second floor of the addition heated by a hot water heater.

The first floor of the additon will have a wood floor installed on sleepers on a slab. I do not like the feel of walking on a wood floor directly on a slab (my hangup). I have looked into the Warmboard product and it is very expensive. Does anyone know a more economical way to install radiant heat under this floor ?

    Thanks guys.

I'm going with a site finished floor - keeping it consistent with the rest of the house.

I surfed today and found 2 products that are marketed for retrofitting an existing house by laying it on top of the existing floor and putting the finish floor above it. They are Quik Trak by Wrisbo and Radiant Trak. They seem to be more economical than Warmboard but are not marketed for DIY, although it looks simple enough. Does anyone have any opinions about them ?
