    Back up Software

When you look at backup software, make sure it does exactly what you need for it to do.

Some backup software just saves some of your data files. We use GHOST and actually make a duplicates (Clones)of our critical drives. Windows can't tell the difference between the primary and the backup. This means you don't have to go through the hassle of reloading, reconfiguring and reregistering software. You remove the bad hdd, physically replace it with your clone and your back in business.

Every Friday we run a clone of all the drives. This takes about an hour for four 80mB hard drives.

Also, once a month we run a clone set and store them offsite in case of a fire. This may sound like alot of money for HDD, but think about how many hours it would take to get your system back to where it is right this second. You'd be surprised how cheap hard drives have become.

    One touch backup

Maxtor makes a one touch backup system in various capacities. Very simple and effective. Essentially it is an external hard drive bundled with software. Also, CD burners are dirt cheap these days but are more time consuming.
