Combustion tuning expert wanted, 516/631

I'm interested in finding someone that has experience in combustion tuning. I'm specifically thinking about the seminar/school that has been mentioned here in the past (though I can't think of the name right now).
Ideally, not only should this person have satisfactorily completed the course and have on-the-job experience, but it'd be a bonus if he/she had experience with Riello/Buderus systems.
Anyone care to raise their hand (or refer me to someone)? I'm on Long Island, 631 area code.
Thanks,
Frank

N.C.I.
Frank, I believe you are thinking of the National Comfort Institute (N.C.I.). You can check them out at http://www.nationalinstitute.com/ for their training schedule. You can also get combustion training thru Bacharach, and can check them out at www.bacharach-training.com.
Hope this help.

I'm in Port Jefferson, what type of problem are you having?0 -
Everything works fine ...
There were some comments here a while ago about the combustion classes from NCI, and the benefits of having that level of analysis and tuning done on the burner/boiler.
I just got a new Riello/Buderus system and the installer isn't a service technician. So it's basically set up to the OEM specs, "out of the box" and needs to be tuned. I'm interested in having someone with the NCI certification do that work.

My opinion
Someone who doesn't own and understand how to use a Bacharach kit has no business installing oil boilers. OEM specs are starting points only.0 -
Did you check with your oil company?
Any good service tech "should" be able to handle what you want. Require that they leave you a print-out of test results and ask questions , I for one love when customers what to know what I'm doing and why.0 -
Bacharach ???
Why only Bacharach? I have just bought a Kane-May 400 which I think is the cat's pyjamas.
I have used Bacharach in the past too.
What about Testo or Dwyer?0 -
I was using Bacharach as a generic term,I meant owning and understanding how to use any brand of Combustion test kit should be a prerequisite to installing heating equipment.I find it hard to fathom how people consider themselves qualified to install boilers without even possessing the necessary tools to perform the job properly. How someone installs an oilfired Buderus and leaves the jobsite without performing a combustion test is incredible. A sloppy piping job might be unslightly but it never killed anyone,a boiler producing CO potentially could. Setup of the burner is MORE important than anything else. I'd rather have a steel drybase boiler with 0 smoke and 12% CO2 than a Buderus where the smoke and CO2 readings are unknown0
