low temperature boilers

there is only one real player in that arena. The Viessmann Vitola 200. It is a true low temperature (non-condensing) oil-fired boiler.

Low temprerature boilers
I am looking to replace an existing boiler and am considering a low temperature european model like buderus. I have heard from one or two people who have them that they save them lots of oil and of course thats what the vendors and manufacturers say but is there any independent review of these boilers out there that you know of that will justify the higher price?0 -
How low are we talking?

Viessmann recommends.........
75°F be the lowest sustained water temperature. I have quite a few operating that low at the start and stop of the season for 10 years now. The HXs look almost as good as they do the day of start-up. I have a small commercial radiant project running for 6 years now without a mixing valve. Right out of the boiler, into the floor and back to the boiler. Return water temps ar as low as 60° on start-up. No boiler protection needed. Amazing. While I would never run a residential radiant system without mixing valves, I could with the Vitola. It is as close to idiot proof (good for me!) as it can get.
IF we would ever get some decent fuel oil in this country, it would burn as clean as it does when I put the gas burner on them.
