NY Thermal Trinity

Are you refering to the 'Combi' unit with the plate exchanger factory installed? Be cautious in your expectations from any plate exchanger - when you turn off the tap you stop the production of hot water and there will be about 20 seconds after you turn the flow back on before the boiler fires again. The results are fine for filling a bath or kitchen sink but can be very frustrating for rinsing dishes, quick hand wash or on/off showering. We've reverted to indirects for storage using the smarts of the controller for priority. Enjoy...dan

    NY Thermal Trinity as hydronic+DHW

Anyone out there with experience installing a NY Thermal Trinity as a modulating boiler for a hydronic in floor (staple-up) system, with DHW priority?

    I have two main concerns:

    1) efficiency and reliability, with 7-8 heating months, minimum ~-35F, max 50,000 BTUH heating load (30 BTUH/sf), DHW priority.

    2) load capacity with maximum output temperature ~130F, plated staple up pex at 8" spacing with ~R1.7 total subfloor and hardwood above.

Any recommended basic control setups - primary-secondary loops, DHW in parallel, injection?

What is the competition for this unit - any recommendations?

I have 2 of them in and they are working fine. Have plans for 3 more. Throw away the piping diagram in the manual and pipe them primary/seconary. I also install a flow switch. Had to use a combustion analyzer to get them to fire right at this elevation (5280 ft.)

There was an error rendering this rich post.
