    Radiant in Dorms

The University I work for is undertaking a large dorm building project. The design is five story buildings about 75,000 sq ft each. We have existing underground chilled and hot water. I asked the project engineers to take a look at radiant floor heat, instead of the fan coils they had planned. They tell me they have never heard of radiant heat in a dorm, or in a multistory building. They are using some type of concrete construction called Hambro?
Can anyone please give me an example of a dorm with radiant floor heat? How is cooling acomplished in those building?
I have some experiance with residential radiant.

You can check out the hambro info here

The cooling would normally still be through the fan coils. I am assuming they are planning on putting drywall on the bottom chord of the truss to achieve the fire rating between floors. If you would do radiant floors I guess you would have to insulate under the concrete so you don't have radiant floor and ceilings. You would need some sort of mixing station to reduce down to your radiant hw temp. I would assume you would still need hi temp hw for the lobby areas and common areas.
If they can put the extra cost in the budget then that's great. I'd be surprised if the big shots would be willing to spend the extra $ so the students can have superior heating comfort in delaware.
