which if installed correctly will NEVER short-change you on comfort. Continue to use your ductwork for A/C.

American Standard forced-air systems
We have a 200 year-old house in CT with a old forced air system - there's an octopus in the basement. We're replacing the entire system and our best quote for a new forced air system is recommending an American Standard Freedom 80 furnace for the attic unit, a Freedom 90 for the basement unit and two Allegiance air conditioners. Anyone have any expericence or information about these products - we're not familiar with this brand (doesn't mean much - I've only heard of Lennox from all the advertising they do, and Carrier air conditioning) Thanks for the help.0 -
American Standard
American Standard is the same as Trane. But it is not so much the brand of furnace but the quality of the installation. Any furnace will keep you cozy if properly sized and installed. Find a contractor who will do a heat loss calc. for you and who will take the time to do it right. Good Luck0 -
American Standard
American Standard is very good equipment. But, as previously stated it is not the equipment that makes the job it is the installer. You probably can't use your old ductwork for air conditioning so have it replaced. Two systems work great when don right. Good luck!0
