Virus Alert

from I.S.P.'s saying that I had sent e-mails with viruses to other people that I don't know. I just updated my virus definitions and did a full virus scan so I know it's not me. I agree with Bill W. hoping there is a nasty corner in hell for hackers, maybe where they will be attacked by thier own viruses for eternity!

    Virus Alert

If you get any messages from Tim Doran at Wirsbo, do NOT open them! It contains the SoBig virus. Mcafee caught it on my machine, but it may get you if you aren't up to date. I'm sure Tim didn't do this on purpose, and I hope there's an especially miserable corner of Hell reserved for these slimeballs who continue to produce these viruses and worms.

I've received it more than 300 times today. All sorts of names. Keep that anti-virus software up to date, lads!

    It looks like

what's happening is that somehow the virus is harvesting e-mail addresses from address books and e-mailing to people using the harvested addresses as the senders' addresses.

I have gotten about 20 bounce-backs today, mostly from Ireland. They all said they were mailed using Outlook Express version 6. As most of you know, I am a Netscape man- and I don't even have OE6 on my system! So I also know it's not my system sending these nasty things.

If you have a firewall such as ZoneAlarm, or McAfee's or Norton's firewall which is sometimes bundled with their antivirus programs, you might want to set it so it will ask for confirmation if your e-mail client tries to send something.

    To stop worms and viruses

A customer told me today that to stop the viruses and worms from harvesting email addresses from your address book, simply list AAA as your first address. No @, no name, just AAA. He said it stops the bugs cold.

I also am very careful with my email adress, but some get through. A good virus program is essential.
