Vitodens/Climate panel/Radson

Consisted of a Vitodens and climate panel/radiator system. It was/is an interesting project to say the least. The structure is a full log home that the local Amish put up. The HO then hired a "builder" to do the roof, windows, doors and interior framing. He was also in the mix for providing the heating system. When the HO contacted me last year in October, he simply asked if I would come and look at what the builder was proposing/doing. (this was from a referral) When I arrived there was a 140,000 btu Janitrol furnace sitting in the basement. The owner was more than a little agitated because the builder was being very vague about what exactly he was going to do and had recently asked the HO to pull the mechanical permit because he couldn't due to not being licensed. The HO's radar went on full alert mode at that point. I quizzed the builder in front of the owner hard enough to determine that he didn't have a clue and politely told the HO to call me back if he'd like me to make some alternative suggestions. As you can see from the pics he selected something quite different than what the builder was offering. (Builders!!! pay attention to that statement!)

We wound up with the main floor heated with Climate panel over the whole thing and Radson panel rads where heat loss was more than the floor could deliver. The second floor, two bedrooms, two baths, and the loft area are all radiators as well as the three heated areas in the basement. The system is set up for the addition of an outdoor wood/corn fired boiler through a plate HX from RTI. Water will flow through the Stadler manifolds constantly with the exception of the master bedroom. In all other areas the Oventrop TRV's on the panel rads will fine tune the comfort level. All of the pex to the rads has to be run yet as well as 8 loops of 5/16" from the floor. I'll post more when done.
