Netscape 7.1

who uses Netscape as their browser who upgraded to 7.1? I received a notice to upgrade, followed the instructions and then got something called Error 1009.
The upgrade stopped and it also wouldn't let me back into Netscape 7.0. I ended up deleting all the Netscape areas and, luckily, still have Internet Explorer.
Very frustrating.

I heard on the radio driving home a few weeks ago that netscape just fired 50 tech's and is no longer updating there brower, aka... there going out of business.0 -
Thanks, Geo.
I had a feeling there was something wrong. "IE" seems to be OK, although I had good luck with Netscape since being on DSL with Verizon.0 -

My Dad, a netscape and Apple junkie is still going threw withdrawals ( Bill gate's hater). How do you like the DSL, most people I talk to that went from DSL to cable say they will never go back, too many problems with DSL.0 -
No problems.
My daughter is on Cable and she wouldn't give it up but I haven't had any problems with Verizon DSL so no reason to change.
I share your Dad's pain. Withdrawls su--.0 -
Mozilla?
Have you tried Mozilla? Netscape is actually just a version of Mozilla that goes through some small changes and is then released with Netscape stickers all over it. Netscape 7.1 is Mozilla 1.4. I've been using Mozilla as my primary browser in Windows and Linux for a couple of years now and am nothing but pleased.

AOL (who owns Netscape) cut a deal with Microsoft a few months ago to kill Netscape but the Mozilla project is continuing (albeit somewhat slower since the loss of the Netscape developers).0 -
Oh No
This is the first I have heard about the death of Netscape and it just makes me sick. I cant stand IE. Well I guess I will just have to go with Mozilla. Thats not so bad considering it is the engine behind Netscape.

Well I just installed Mozilla and it seems to be a smooth transition. You can hardly tell that it is different then Netscape. Even the mail flooded over no problems. Thanks for the heads up.
