central air question

I was told that a trap piped into 3/4 P.V.C gravity drains will also help it to drain, I was always under the impression that it was only for odar concerns. Anybody hear or know of this? And why do I need to trap my primary drain in attic installs? unless it did help gravity. I have always done it with condensate pumps and attics (primary's), just always wondered. Thank You

traps for a/c's
If the evaporator ( cooling coil) is on the suction side of the blower then a trap is needed for the condensate to drain properly. If there is no trap, air is sucked in through the drain preventing the water from running out. When the a/c cycles off, then the water will drain. If the a/c runs for a long time the drain pan will fill and overflow.
