Happy 100th to Harley-Davidson

With the 100th anniversary coming soon many other manufacturers are wishing the HD company a Happy Birthday. BMW makes a good motorcycle as many people know and apparently couldn't resist a little poke at the loud V-twins made at the motor company in Milwaukee.

    quote from a Harley Executive...

One of my favorite quotes from HD...

...We wanted to give the 43 old accountant a chance to ride down main street small town America wearing black leathers and have people be afraid...

By the way...how many customers in our industry volunteer to permanently tattoo their choice of brand into their bodies?

Harley customers get married to their bikes...I know Mark E gives birth names to his handywork but nobody has tried marrying the customers to their systems yet...

We, Mrs. and Mr. Homeowner do love and cherish our heated floors until death do us part...

    I rode a 100th Anniversary Softtail....

and all I can say is ...Wow!

My buddy Ed bought one, and wanted to hear the Screamin' Eagle pipes as it went down the road...I was more than happy to oblige :-)

When I pulled back in his garage, he said "Better than Viagra, isn't it?" I wouldn't know...yet!

Every time I think about that ride I smile...what a machine! Congrats Harley!

    Take Care, PJO

    Thank god.............

they saved the company from bad management back in the early 80's. What happened to Harley when AMF took over is exactly what is wrong with most co's now. I think it should be required reading in all business courses especially at Harvard. There's something about them, either you get it or you don't, like the man said.... if I have to explain, you wouldn't understand. Congrat's to Harley and the Davidson Family.

    Where is that billboard...

Milwaukee has Harley Fever and it's spreading to every billboard and store front around...the 95th was out of this world..the 100th...I still can't imagine what it's going to be like here. I'll put up a coupla billboards pictures...One says "More twins here then any place in the world" Happy 100th...the party is costing millions and the guest will be (no one saying yet..but everyones guessing Jay Leno...other guest, REO maybe I heard ZZtop, I'll share some pictures if I get down to the site. At one time I heard...nearly 100,000 bikes are coming home:)

    The Original Dirty Biker

I have a picture of my grandfather and another man on two HD's. As near as I can tell they're 1914's. They are v-twin, but have pedals like a moped, and looong square shaped fuel tanks and swept back handlebars.
The bikes are sporting pennants that read, "Transcontinental Motorcycle Relay" The photo reads, "Nichols and Pulver, Dispatch riders relay #101 Kearney to North Platte." They are in front of a shop window that advertises, "The Excelsior Autocycle."
I know you guys didn't ask me all that, but even though I made a mistake when I was young and bought a Virago, I'm still kinda proud of Gramps. He died before I was born. It musta been a rough ride in 1914. Thanks for listening. If I had a scanner I'd show you all. Kevin
