Got 3 estimates, 3 different boilers.

Weil-McLain CGi-5
Dunkirk Plymouth Xtreme PWX-5V
Buderus G124X/32

I'd like any comments on pros and cons of each boiler. The efficiencies are similar, costs vary, but are reasonable. Thanks.

    You're likely to get

as many different opinions as there are Wall participants. W-M, Dunkirk and Buderus are all good products. But the installation is just as important as the boiler. Have you checked out the Find a Contractor page of this site?

    Dave,

think about which one of those boilers keep the heat in the boiler (where it belongs) and not in the basement.

ie. take a look at the thickness of insulation surrounding the water vessels of each boiler.

The combustion (AFUE) efficiencies may be similar, but where does that efficiently heated water go after its been heated, into your heating system or into your basement.

    Just some food for thought.

    This One's A Bud

Buderus has a better casting and more insulation to reduce standby losses. Their integral Logamatic control makes it a very efficient appliance.
