Light commercial project, 2 boilers Primary/Secondary with 14 zone pumps. Not using OSA reset/tekmar controller.

Here's my plan for controls, Please comment...

I was planning on setting boiler setpoints at 180 and 170 to stage boilers. Thermocouples must be in common primary header so both see flow.

My question is on operating primary pumps?

Run primary pumps on lead boiler constantly?
Run lag boiler on aquastat after firing or only during firing?

Thanks Eric

    Light Commercial Primary Secondary Controls

    Eric,

I would use a staging control that integrates outdoor reset on any multi boiler installation.
It not only saves energy, but rotates the boilers for equal run time. This also helps with the domestic hot water heating, where one boiler may satisfy the load instead of both.

The primary pump can be connected to one of the end switches of a zone control.
The boiler pumps are connected to their respective boiler operating controls. The staging control will enable the boiler operating controls.

Any other questions let me know.
    Dave
