Taco IFC circs

The tubing is black 3/4 Kitec feeding a remote manifold. It's a constant flow setup and the zone valve is a 3-way Taco. Dan

Flipping flanges
I finally bought a few 007s with the internal flow check. They rotated the flanges to match most of the rest of the market. I'll keep an extra in the truck! Dan

Taco Pumps
Taco actually offers both configurations. I have noticed various models have different configurations in the brochures. Both configurations have an advantage.0 -
Same size??
Are these Taco-with- flow-checks the exact same length as those without flowchecks, so that they can drop in replace them.??0 -
Flange to flange
The lengths are the same. They are physically taller. Unlike the Grundfos where the flow check is inserted at the outlet, Taco have placed it above the eye of the impeller. DP

Flange orientation
The 007 that comes with an Amtrol has this configuration. I think it is better suited to being mounted on a horizontal pipe. I think that the flanges that are parallel to the axis of the pump make it convenient to replace an inline circulator, such as a 110, which had the flanges this way to support the weight of the motor when mounted on a vertical pipe. I'm not an authority on the subject, just thinking out loud.

IFC 007
I use these almost exclusively and won't go back to flow-checks. Just be careful of air-locking the circ motor as it is easy to do.0 -
How tough?
Tony, are they harder to clear initially or do they trap air later? DP

usually
initially but have had some lock up later on systems with loops lower than circ and/or w/scoops or inadequate air elim equip. Taco recommends a purge valve downstream. I use iso-flanges and "crack" the flange on the outlet side. Haven't had any problem with systems using Spirovent after initial fill up. Found that if you pressurize the loop from the circ side 1st it usually purges the circ.0 -
I've always
been trained that putting a flow restricting device at the impeller like that invites cavatation, and air bound circs? Seems like it's trading a flow check solution for an air bound impeller potential. Shine the light for me, someone:)

what type....
of tubing is that coming out of the circs.? What set up is thw ZV and the circ on the same run for? I must be too close to see what is really going on... tia kpc0 -
I'm with you, HR
Sounds like a design that invites trouble. With these high head, low flow circs often used in very small zones, I think there are going to be some headaches with this.
